Ok! It’s that resolutions time again! I made these resolutions in the beginning of 2009, and I can proudly say, I let go and achieved none of them!

  • Stop anticipating and interrupting people.
  • Stop swearing…as much. And hopefully stop doing it completely.
  • Focus more on what I want and less of what other people want, if it’s at my expense. Life is short, gotta make it a point to enjoy it more.
  • Have the courage to punch/knee bad people in physical self defense. I learnt a painful lesson that talk is really cheap.
  • Earn much more for my family and myself.
  • Slow down and smell the roses.

And chronologically, this was how insane 2009 was:

  • Tried white water rafting for the first time, on Valentine’s day, no less. :p
  • Passed JLPT3. Yay!
  • My acne took on a life of it’s own, my face is severely scarred now and not showing signs of recovering.
  • Went for an awesome getaway at Batam with my favorite colleagues! The memories seem so far away now. :(
  • Took up Salsa! Haven’t been going to the club for a month now, though. :(
  • I was first search result if you search for Chufang on Google. :)
  • Went to my first rave ever.
  • Nickpan left us. T_T
  • Shruti turns 21! We had a blast.
  • Went to Hokkaido and absolutely loved the weather, the people, the wildlife, the pet shops, the food… Also, I won at Pachinko. :p
  • Tried dirt biking for the first time. Didn’t like it, will probably not try it ever again.
  • Grew closer to MZ this year. :) <3 <3
  • Became a BlackBerry convert. :)
  • Company trip wasn’t as refreshing as last year. I think it’s because we’re going to the same place. But I won an iPod Nano. :)
  • Dressed for my first Halloween. :)
  • Fell in <3 with Serena.
  • Felt very overwhelmed during my birthday…
  • Went for my first ZoukOut and loved Armin’s set.
  • Movie of the year for me: Up

In retrospect, I let go this year, so now I have a scarred face full of acne, a bigger tummy, and my eczema is flaring up at every opportunity. Letting go is not very liberating. As least not as liberating as other people make it out to be. Doesn’t suit my personality I guess.

Anyway, 2010 is starting off with a big bang! I’m going to be out of town from 1st Jan onwards, so seeya all in mid Jan.

Linda popped by for a surprise visit again this year (she visited us with Weilin last year as well), bringing along Karen and Calvin (from SPH). We had fun hanging out at a restaurant behind our office before they had to go back to their office, and us, ours.

Did some work before we headed out for the company dinner at Bistro Amigo (Funan Centre). Pang won Staff of the Year and had to pop a champagne, which stressed a few people out. Haha.

ZoukOut started on Saturday afternoon for me. Napped in the late afternoon onwards and woke up in time for dinner and dressing up. First attempt at putting on fake eyelashes took me quite a while, plus my eyelash glue wasn’t the best. It dried to white even though it says dries to transparent on the packaging.

As I was heading out, my mom came home. She stood at my room door disapprovingly when I told her I’m going out and will only be back in the morning. Finally she said ok and walked to her room. I heard her talking to dad, and suddenly she re-appeared at my room door asking, “are you going to that bikini event?” I said, “ya”, then she said “去那边给人家摸屁股” (literally translates to “go there to let people touch your butt”). I looked at her and don’t know whether I should laugh. I said, “no la, it’s not as crowded as in a club, no one will touch my butt”. She repeatedly muttered that same sentence, and walked out of my room. That was so weird, yet so funny at the same time.

Met Vivian’s friends and Terence, then we set up a drinks picnic on a grass patch outside beach station. Halfway through, I went to take pictures with Ling. I have very broken memory of what happened after, until Armin began. We got in, met up with Eugene and gang, then I remember hanging at the VW booth, getting Polo tattoos, free drinks coupons from my client and taking more pics with Ling. I also managed to get my present from Abala (thanks Geoff! Come SG soon!).

When Armin came on at 5am, the effect was instant. I can feel the mood change immediately (somehow I sobered up too), and the area around us became really packed. Fortunately, no one touched my butt. Hahaha. I thoroughly enjoyed Armin’s set, too bad Yang and Ling didn’t stay throughout. Yang was bugging me to go home at 6 plus. Haha. The sunrise was very nice, coupled with Armin, it was a fantastic experience for me.

After it all ended, I forced them to eat with me (as usual). Haha. I was still hungry even though I had two breakfasts – one before we left Sentosa, another at the market opposite HarbourFront. Luckily there was lunch planned. Went home to shower and get ready for lunch.

Met colleagues for Barbara’s farewell lunch at Garden Slug (the bangers and mash a must try for the mash!) and knocked out on the cab home. Haha. Slept the rest of Sunday away, all the way till I had to wake for work this morning. Awesome. :D

On my way to the gym now. Been feeling so lazy since I woke up and have been vegetating in front of the computer. I feel torn about having a packed schedule. It really helps to have a busy schedule where I just keep going on and on and on and on, cos once I have a chance to slow down, inertia sets in and it’s so hard to get myself going again. Like this morning. :p

On the flipside, I don’t spend proper time with my family anymore (when I’m free for meals, my parents reject me. And when they’re free, they force me to cancel my other commitments, which I do. :x unless it’s a place I don’t wanna go to).

I’m current taking the PMPCC (Project Management Professional Certification Course), and the instructor taught us that a successful Project Manager can achieve work-life balance for herself, and her team members. Throughout the course, he will randomly remind us to switch off our phones in class (which I do without him reminding), to keep our laptops away (I don’t bring my laptop to class), to not go back to office at the end of the course day (I can’t help it :x). Work can never be finished. This, I agree, but most times I’m putting in the extra hours to meet datelines, not to clear work that can be done another day, and certainly not to make myself seem more hardworking.

This weekend is kinda different from my other weekends. Firstly, it’s long, so I have one extra day, which I spent with Serena at the beach in the day and then New Moon in the night with my Dragon boys and Fly girls. And then no clubbing last night (not a norm). Secondly, did not managed to get tickets to Mulan tonight, so no movie tonight (I watch a movie every Sat night). A bit irritated cos my friend said he’ll get the tickets days ago, and then asked me to get the tickets just now cos he forgot to do so. I hate kio-ing sai, especially if it’s last minute. Moreover, it’s the weekend and it’s a new show. Sure damn hard to get tickets. Rawr. Last but not least, I gotta fit in some PMP studying this weekend. Maybe tonight, cos I’m angry with movie friend and might decide not to hang out with him tonight if I’m still angry after gym.
